Chief Executive CY Leung says Hong Kong must strike a balance between a high degree of autonomy and its responsibility to the country.
Addressing reporters ahead of an Executive Council meeting this morning, Mr Leung noted that Hong Kong people have basic rights and duties under the Basic Law.
He said the Chinese Government resumed exercise of its sovereignty over Hong Kong on July 1, 1997, and that Hong Kong, as a Special Administrative Region, has a high degree of autonomy, but at the same time, has responsibilities to the country as a whole.
He added that Hong Kong people must follow the Basic Law and strike a balance between rights and duties, and also between a high degree of autonomy and responsibility to the country.(http://j.mp/1MnGvcf)
