Newhaven Lifeboat called to a fishing vessel with a fouled rudder

At 09.45 on 25th March, coastguards launched Newhaven’s Severn class lifeboat, the David and Elizabeth Acland after a 23ft fishing vessel reported that they had a line tangled around their rudder
The lifeboat quickly arrived on scene 5 miles south of Newhaven and passed the tow to the vessel. The vessel was towed back into Newhaven Harbour where the line was passed to a fellow fishing vessel who brought the casualty on to its berth.
The Newhaven lifeboat the returned to sea to continue its Sunday morning exercise before returning to station.
