Ingredients list

NOTE – any of the millets can be used in all these 4 recipes.

Little millet kichdi / saame kichdi

12 cup little millet / saame
14th cup moong dal / split green gram / hesaru bele
12 onion
12 carrot
1 potato
1 big or 2 small tomatoes
14th cup green peas
12 cup microgreen kale leaves – optional
1 and quarter tbsp coriander powder
12 tbsp red chili powder
12 tbsp garam masala
14th tsp turmeric
2 tbsp oil or ghee
12 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp kasoori methi / dried fenugreek leaves
2.5 cups water
Salt as required

Navane/ navanakki uppittu / foxtail millet upma
******** ******* ****** ****** ****** ******1 cup foxtail millet (200 grams approx) / ನವಣೆ
3 cups water / ನೀರು
12 onion / ಈರುಳ್ಳಿ
2 tomatoes / ಟೊಮ್ಯಾಟೋ
12 carrot / ಕ್ಯಾರೆಟ್
15 green beans / ಹುರುಳಿಕಾಯಿ
100 grams green peas / ಬಟಾಣಿ
3 green chillies / ಹಸಿ ಮೆಣಸಿನಕಾಯಿ
1 dried red chilli / ಒಣ ಮೆಣಸಿನಕಾಯಿ
Salt as required / ಉಪ್ಪು ರುಚಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕಷ್ಟು
1 teaspoon mustard seeds / ಸಾಸಿವೆ
1 teaspoon urad dal / ಉದ್ದಿನ ಬೇಳೆ
1 teaspoon channa dal / ಕಡಲೆ ಬೇಳೆ
Few curry leaves / ಕರಿಬೇವು
3 tablespoons cooking oil / ಅಡುಗೆ ಎಣ್ಣೆ

Little millet / saame bisibelebath

12 cup barnyard millet (125 grams)
14th cup toor dal
I have used 1 and half cups water to cook millet. ( 1 : 3 ratio)

Use vegetables of your choice
I have used
12 onion
12 carrot
1 small potato
Handful of peanuts
14th cup green peas
12 green beans

3 to 4 tablespoons of bisi bele bath powder
Tamarind extract (lemon sized tamarind)
2 teaspoons jaggery powder
4 tablespoons of grated dry coconut
Salt as required

2 to 3 tablespoons of ghee (clarified butter)
2 dry red chillies
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
12 teaspoon cumin seeds
A pinch of hing / asafoetida
12 to 15 cashews

Little millet(saame) tomato bath/rice
* * * * * * * *. * * * * *. * * * * * * * * * * *
1 cup little millet / saame / siridhanya (wash 3 to 4 times amd soak for an hour)
2.25 cups water for cooking
1 onion
6 tomatoes (sour)
2 to 3 tbsp cooking oil
12 tsp mustard seeds
2 bay leaves
Salt as required

Masala ingredients

12 cup grated fresh or desiccated coconut
3 garlic cloves
1 inch ginger
3 cloves
1 kapok bud /marathi moggu
12 inch cinnamon stick
3 tbsp curry powder /sambar powder
5 bunches coriander leaves
Water to blend the ingredients
